In order to build a relationship with your staff, it’s important to have trust. And this can only be made over time with an equal amount of respect coming from both the employee and employer. As your business hopefully grows. You want to move forward with a strong team and trust is very much an important factor.


Provide Them With Benefits

There are a number of benefits you can give your staff. Firstly there’s the option of flexible working. Granted, not all businesses can offer this but giving your staff the work-life balance can be extremely important in employees staying loyal to you because they feel like their lives are valued. If you can’t offer flexible working, you should at least be giving them overtime pay in time in lieu. Incentives and rewards should be something you actively give to employees as this will improve work productivity and general happiness amongst the office environment.

Whether it’s judicial arbitration and mediation services you require or just legal advice on any employee-related issue, it’s good to have legal protection. You might use an external law firm for this or have your own team. Your business should come first, so having these steps in place can protect it from any fallouts you may have.


Listen To Employees

One of the things employees look for in a good workplace is that the company cares for each and every one of them. A lot of businesses may just see an employee as another number which can often lead to a more regular turnover of staff. It’s beneficial to listen to your employees and their concerns by setting weekly or monthly meetings that provide a space and opportunity to listen and discuss.

When dealing with employees, if you’re able to offer the opportunity to move up the career ladder then let it be known. Whether it’s one year down the line or five, this gives you an idea of whether that employee wants to stick around.
